NOT YOUR ORDINARY CAMP

Examen is a 1 and 2-week summer camp academy at Indiana Wesleyan University for high school students to explore a call to vocational ministry. Examen isn’t an ordinary summer camp on a college campus or a week of practical ministry experiences. It’s a time to wonder.

Students at Examen will:
Explore what a call to ministry could mean through seminars and interactive activities
Catch a glimpse of college life by living on IWU’s campus
Experience rich biblical education by taking a 3-credit hour Bible/Theology college course
Create memories that will last a life time through recreation activities and a spiritual retreat
Develop deep friendships with other teenagers who feel a similar call to ministry

Oh, and did we mention it’s aLL FOR FREE?

ST. IGNATIUS

Originator of the examen prayer practice from which Examen gets its name.

Examen exists to equip future pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders with the holistic care necessary for fruitful ministry early—as high school students.

What if youth interested in full-time vocational ministry could experience holistic ministry from the start of their consciousness to a ministerial call?

What if holistic pastoral care, particularly for oneself, was not merely studied in a senior capstone class in or continuing education within her pastoral ministry, but was something experienced at the very beginning of that journey?

What if youth were initiated into a holistic ministry approach from the start?

Examen seeks to accomplish just that.

In a culture where teens are ridden of correct theology, spiritual malformation, and an active love of God, Examen seeks to foster a spiritually formative community for students to explore not just their calls to ministry, but how God is good, and how his goodness can be seen in everyday life. This is why Examen gets its name from a core practice of the program: practicing the St. Ignatius examen prayer every evening to explore how God was uniquely present and working throughout the day.
